With over 890 grower-members, the Koperasi Pedagang Kopi Ketiara is a remarkable women-run cooperative established in 2008 by passionate and experienced chairwoman, Ibu Rahmah. Through their dedication and hard work, Ketiara has grown to become a major supplier to larger coffee traders in Medan, the capital of North Sumatra. In 2012, the cooperative made the important decision to become both Organic and Fair Trade certified, using the proceeds to support health, education, and public infrastructure projects for the benefit of all coop members.
